Scarecrow


As midday blazes with the heat of a crackling torch,
One man stands, a cornfield watchman, duties never ceasing;
The Enemy gather in dive-bomb positions, readying hungry tongues for the golden feast,
He is our only only chance of survival, our only chance of hope;
A veritable Jesus Christ, sacrificing himself for the greater good,
I do not envy thee, guardian of foodstocks.

    Beautiful stuff, very impressive. I'm in year 12 at the moment and I'm doing poetry for Extension 2 English and I love it, poems about the war in Afghanistan, might post them on my blog sometime.
